The Lutsen/Tofte area has seen some beautiful weather lately with an abundance of sunshine and temperatures in the mid to high 30's nearly every day! Although Lutsen's current trail report lists the conditions as power tilled, warm temperatures have lead to what are more spring-like conditions as of late. Even with warm temperatures, the 48-inch base is sure to provide great skiing conditions for many weeks to come. Love is in the air on the North Shore and we here at Bluefin Bay are preparing for what is guaranteed to be a fantastic Valentine's Day weekend. We are offering a variety of activities ranging from yoga to candlelight skiing and even a couple's evening snowshoe! In addition, the Bluefin Grille is offering Valentines Day dinner specials as well as live music all evening long. From 7pm-9pm enjoy classical music with cellist Josh Aerie, then relax fireside and listen to the acoustics of Joshua James. Yesterday sled dog teams and mushers from seven states and four countries began the running of the 27th John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon. The full length marathon is a 375 mile race from Duluth to the Gunflint Trail and back. The Mid-Distance race finished today in Tofte.
