With the official start of winter just around the corner, we can't help but feel excited about the endless possibilities of activities and amenities that come with it. Although there may not be much snow on the ground just yet, there are still countless adventures and activities to enjoy while staying at Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts.

Annual Gingerbread House Making Competition: Get into the festive spirit by showcasing your creativity in this fun-filled complimentary event. We’ll provide all the necessary gingerbread house making materials! Let your imagination run wild as you construct and design your masterpiece. Our esteemed panel of judges will evaluate each gingerbread house based on creativity, originality, and overall appearance. Prizes will be awarded to the top contenders, so don't miss your chance to win! Two separate contests run from December 24-27th and December 27-30th.
Holiday-themed Coloring Books: Head to guest services and grab some festive complimentary coloring books for the kids (or yourself) and a set of crayons. This cozy activity is perfect for a relaxing evening by the fire after an adventurous day.
Football on the Big Screen! Join us to cheer on your favorite team at the Vikings vs. Packers game on New Year’s Eve. Doors open at 6:30 pm. with a variety of food options available for purchase, including pizza, pretzels, chili, plus beer, wine and seltzer. The game will be streamed on the projector in the Surfside Ballroom.
Looking for snow? Head to Lutsen Mountains where they’ve been busy making lots of snow for the alpine and snowboard enthusiasts. Open daily! Ski shuttles run daily from Bluefin Bay beginning on December 27th.
Pools! No matter what the weather is like our indoor pools and hot tubs at Bluefin Bay and Surfside are a favorite winter activity. In addition, Bluefin Bay guests can relax in the heated outdoor pool and hot tub overlooking Lake Superior.
Ice Skating: Lace-up a pair of complimentary skates and glide along the rinks at Bluefin Bay and Surfside. These rinks are beautifully lit in the evenings, and for added warmth, there are cozy campfires nearby to keep you toasty. In addition, guests can use hockey equipment, broomball equipment and skate trainers at no extra cost. Ice rinks will remain open as long as the temperatures are below 32 degrees.
Nightly Bonfires: Experience the perfect end to your day by gathering around a crackling bonfire under the stars, listening to the waves of Lake Superior while delighting in yummy s'mores.
Holiday Dining Specials: The Bluefin Grille will have holiday specials available beginning at 5 p.m. on December 23 & 25th as well as live music for New Year's Eve!
Guided Resort Hikes: Winter hikes provide the perfect opportunity to see far through the woods, spot wildlife, and view the beauty of Lake Superior and the inland Sawtooth Mountains from breathtaking overlooks. We offer several guided hikes, including transportation, to some of the best hiking routes in the area. We even offer a hike that combines two of our favorite things: hiking and a bonfire with s’mores!
Craft Classes: Winter is for crafting! Join us for an artsy experience painting a mini canvas, making an ornament, or learning the art of wood burning.
Yoga & Barre: Continue with your regular yoga practice while on vacation or give it a try if you are new to it. All skill levels are welcome and mats and props are provided. We will also be hosting our first ever Barre Class, which will combine ballet-inspired moves with pilates and yoga.
