A rare treat has graced the North Shore this winter: an influx of owls! Great Gray Owls, Northern Hawk Owls, and Boreal Owls have been spotted more frequently than usual. This "irruption" is driven by a scarcity of their usual prey, such as voles and small mammals, in their native boreal forest habitats, forcing them south in search of food.
Owl sightings have been frequent among guests exploring the hiking trails. One guest even reported seeing an owl this week along the lakewalk on their way to the outdoor pool!
While these close encounters are exciting, it's crucial to prioritize the owls' safety.
